Gulfstream Aerospace celebrates flight test program milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace has reflected on the first ten flight tests for the Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 jets. The jets are twin-engine, with the G500 replacing the G450. The G500 has a range of 5,000 nautical miles (9,260km) at Mach 0.85, with nonstop flights connecting distant cities such as Istanbul to Cape Town, Los Angeles to London, and San Francisco to Tokyo. The G600 can fly 4,800 nautical miles (8,890km) at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and seats up to 19 passengers, with room for nine to sleep.

BA Group open for proposals for new FBO campus at Addison Airport

business aviation group FBO addison airport texas business airport internationalThe Business Aviation (BA) Group has announced it is seeking candidates to bid on its proposed FBO development project at Addison Airport in Texas.

The new development will be in the southeast quadrant of Addison Airport (KADS), adjacent to the Addison Circle Park. Addison Jet Center will be constructed in two phases, and is to include 120,000ft² of hangar, office and shop space, and 6.9 acres of ramp space.

The first phase will be built across 11-acres and is designed to include two 40,000ft² corporate aircraft hangars with accompanying office and shop space. A 22,000ft², two-story FBO terminal building will be the focal point of the development and will serve as the operational center of the campus.

To handle ultra-long range, large cabin business jets, a 4.6-acre ramp has been incorporated into the design process, ensuring safe and efficient aircraft ramp movements. As initially conceptualized, the FBO terminal also includes a roof-top observation deck and office suites.

Phase two of the development will increase capacity with an additional 40,000ft² hangar and 4,800ft² of office and shop space to accommodate the growing corporate flight operations in the region.

Adding a 2.3-acre ramp in the second phase will bring the total campus to 6.9 acres, which is more than twice the size of the current FBOs’ combined contiguous front ramp space.

Iver Retrum, co-founder and partner of BA Group, said, “The initial response we received when we first announced plans for this new state-of-the-art project was overwhelming, and now we are excited to be moving to the next step this week in the FBO selection process.

“This is the largest development project ever initiated at Addison airport and it comes at a time when hangar space is at capacity and the nearby northern corridor of the Dallas Metroplex is exploding with growth, which is sure to fuel further growth for this airport for years to come.”

David Vaughan, co-owner and partner of the BA Group, added, “Addison Airport is poised to support the current demand for larger business jets in this region and this unique world-class facility is just what we need to bring it to fruition.

“The FBO will be like no other and have a mix of the area’s warm hospitality coupled with exemplary service and amenities for its local and transient clients.”
