TAG Aviation exits Spanish market

TAG Aviation Europe has exited the Spanish market as part of its broader plan to consolidate its aircraft operations under a number of strategic Air Operator Certificates (AOC).

An AOC is the approval granted by a national aviation authority to an aircraft operator to allow it to use aircraft for commercial purposes.

TAG has undertaken business in Spain for many years, but the downturn in the Spanish economy combined with the “inflexibility of the regulatory environment” has led to the company’s decision to terminate activities in the country and deploy its resources elsewhere.

Daniel Christe, CEO of TAG Aviation Europe, said, “The decision to leave Spain was a very difficult one, but the limited business aviation market in Spain no longer justifies the cost to support a standalone AOC, especially when more favorable options are available within the TAG organization.”

Christe added that existing clients would be offered the option of enrolling their aircraft on another TAG Europe AOC, and that the company would do its best to relocate TAG Spain employees to other TAG European sites.
