McKinney National Airport breaks ground on new US$16m FBO terminal

The city of McKinney has broken ground on the future home of the US$16m McKinney Air Center, a state-of-the-art fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal at the McKinney National Airport. The terminal will span 17,000ft2, in addition to a 40,000ft2 transient hangar. Read more on this story here.

Donegal ranked as world’s most stunning runway in 2018 Scenic Airport Poll

Private jet booking platform, PrivateFly, has revealed the results of its Scenic Airport Poll 2018, with Ireland’s Donegal Airport being ranked as the world’s most beautiful landing spot. The annual survey, which was conducted in February 2018, asked 8,500 travellers to name their top landing location. Other airports listed in the top ten include Barra in Scotland, Nice in France and Queenstown in New Zealand.

Bombardier appoints Michael Ryan as president

Bombardier has appointed Michael Ryan as president for aerostructures and engineering services. Ryan, who previously served as vice president and general manager of Bombardier’s Belfast Aerostructures facility, will succeed Jean Séguin who is retiring after a 36-year career with Bombardier.

Bellemare commented, “His skills and experience in the aerospace industry make him the right choice to lead Bombardier’s aerostructures business as we continue to transform our company.”

Michael Ryan joined Bombardier through the acquisition of Short Brothers in 1989, and has held several leadership positions including general manager of advanced composites production, fabrications and procurement for Bombardier Aerospace.

In his most recent position as vice president and general manager of Bombardier’s Belfast facility, Ryan supported the design, development and production ramp-up of some of Bombardier’s largest growth programs.

Jean Séguin played a key role in supporting the company’s turnaround plan, and was integral in the development of many of Bombardier’s most successful programs.

Bellemare added, “Séguin’s leadership and vision has helped to position Bombardier as a world leader in both the commercial and business aircraft markets.”
