Gulfstream Aerospace celebrates flight test program milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace has reflected on the first ten flight tests for the Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 jets. The jets are twin-engine, with the G500 replacing the G450. The G500 has a range of 5,000 nautical miles (9,260km) at Mach 0.85, with nonstop flights connecting distant cities such as Istanbul to Cape Town, Los Angeles to London, and San Francisco to Tokyo. The G600 can fly 4,800 nautical miles (8,890km) at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and seats up to 19 passengers, with room for nine to sleep.

MFC Aviation named fixed-base operator at Canandaigua Airport

MFC Aviation has been named the fixed-base operator of the Canandaigua Airport in Ontario County, New York. MFC is a subsidiary of Mercy Flight Central, the region’s non-profit air ambulance service. It will provide services to aircraft, crews and passengers using the airport.

MFC is to hire up to five employees at the airport, who will be on-site from 7am to 5pm every day. They will additionally provide direct support to air ambulance operations. All proceeds from the FBO will go to Mercy Flight.

Mike Manikowski, Ontario County Industrial Development Agency executive director, said, “Canandaigua Airport is an engine for economic development by providing a gateway to the Finger Lakes and the Greater Rochester area.

“The growth of the airport will benefit development within the region, showcasing Ontario County as a leader in economic progress.”

Services offered include fueling, aircraft parking and tie-down, a lounge for crews, and cargo and baggage handling.

Jeffrey Bartkoski, Mercy Flight president and CEO, said, “Mercy Flight Central has served this outstanding community around the clock since 1992. We are excited to address a local need by expanding our offerings and applying our expertise in aviation. Canandaigua Airport is a tremendous asset that has been significantly enhanced in recent years.”
