Gulfstream Aerospace celebrates flight test program milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace has reflected on the first ten flight tests for the Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 jets. The jets are twin-engine, with the G500 replacing the G450. The G500 has a range of 5,000 nautical miles (9,260km) at Mach 0.85, with nonstop flights connecting distant cities such as Istanbul to Cape Town, Los Angeles to London, and San Francisco to Tokyo. The G600 can fly 4,800 nautical miles (8,890km) at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and seats up to 19 passengers, with room for nine to sleep.

ACI Jet completes terminal and FBO refurbishment at John Wayne Airport

ACI Jet has competed its three-month remodeling project at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. The project was conducted to upgrade a property previously operated by Signature Flight Support prior to the company’s departure in April 2017.

The redesigned Santa Ana Executive Terminal includes on-site concierge services such as town car reservations and other transportation arrangements, hotel bookings via the on-site hospitality and experience agent, and the new security arrangement. The location can service aircraft both large and small, from a Cessna 152 through Boeing Business Jet, and the benefits for aircraft owners and fleet operators include modern handling and servicing equipment 24/7 access to FBO and maintenance services.

William Borgsmiller, CEO at ACI Jet, said, “We’ve brought on nearly 60 additional expertly trained professionals in customer service, line service, administration and maintenance to serve clients at the new facility. Our goal through this FBO acquisition and the subsequent remodeling project is to provide a second-to-none experience for travelers, flight crews and aircraft owners, both living in, and traveling to, the region.”

Complementing ACI Jet’s Part 145 MRO services headquartered in a 35,000ft2 (3,251m2) hangar adjacent to ACI’s corporate headquarters in San Luis Obispo, the new Santa Ana location features nose-to-tail scheduled maintenance, major inspection, and AOG services to any tenant or visitor on the airfield. The same authorizations are in place, so aircraft operators will receive FAA-regulated support and service.

Andrew Robillard, ACI’s vice president of FBOs, commented, “ACI Jet identified a real, tangible opportunity for growth in our fuel sales and FBO services division. With general aviation traffic on the rise, and business aviation specifically building strong roots in the region, we decided to bring our customer-focused approach to business and private aviation to travelers in a whole new market. The response has been well received by the community as a whole, and we’re excited to see how our new Executive Terminal benefits both the community and our clients even further.”

John Wayne Airport is one of the primary airports with direct access to some of the most affluent neighborhoods and vibrant businesses on the West Coast. The 500-acre airport serves more than 10 million passengers annually, and has seen year-on-year increases in passenger traffic for the last five consecutive years.
