McKinney National Airport breaks ground on new US$16m FBO terminal

The city of McKinney has broken ground on the future home of the US$16m McKinney Air Center, a state-of-the-art fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal at the McKinney National Airport. The terminal will span 17,000ft2, in addition to a 40,000ft2 transient hangar. Read more on this story here.

Donegal ranked as world’s most stunning runway in 2018 Scenic Airport Poll

Private jet booking platform, PrivateFly, has revealed the results of its Scenic Airport Poll 2018, with Ireland’s Donegal Airport being ranked as the world’s most beautiful landing spot. The annual survey, which was conducted in February 2018, asked 8,500 travellers to name their top landing location. Other airports listed in the top ten include Barra in Scotland, Nice in France and Queenstown in New Zealand.

Cotswold Airport names new airport manager

Cotswold Airport in Kemble, UK, has named Christian Ackroyd as the hub’s new manager. His role will include developing a five-year strategic plan to grow the business’s diversification of aviation-related activities, in addition to streamlining the operational development of the aerodrome.

Ackroyd has a long-term interest in aviation, obtaining his private pilot license (PPL) two years ago.

Commenting on his appointment, Ackroyd said, “I am delighted to be working at Cotswold Airport and am excited about what the future holds for both aviation and non-aviation business.

“The aerodrome has incredible potential for growth and new GNSS – global navigation satellite system – approach will undoubtedly change the operational face of the business.”

Ackroyd joins the airport from the army senior leadership team with REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) Regiment, where he served for 20 years. His experience includes active service in countries including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Ackroyd also served in Canada, Poland and the USA for operational training, including a two-year exchange with the US Army.
