Residents in Wanaka, New Zealand, were encouraged to join conversations on the future of Wanaka Airport at interactive community and stakeholder engagement sessions. Discussions surrounding what the hub could evolve into by 2045 included the airport’s strengths, thoughts on the return of scheduled services and opportunities for growth.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has published a report in cooperation with young people think tank ThinkYoung called Expanding Horizons: How Millennials see the Future of Business Aviation. The survey asked young people aged 18-25 in Germany, France, the UK and Switzerland about mobility, business aviation and the future of sustainable personal air transport. New executive aviation company launches at Riviera Airport

Hadid International Services and Italy’s Riviera Airport have teamed up to form a new company called Riviera Executive Aviation.

Operated by on-demand aviation service provider Hadid, Riviera Executive Aviation has been formed to develop and manage the executive aviation services at Riviera Airport, including a new FBO.

Riviera Airport is the first and only privatized airport in Italy dedicated to general aviation. It has ambitious development plans to become a major hub in the region. A new terminal, hangars and maintenance facilities are being planned, in addition to the extension of the runway from 1,500m (4,921ft) to 1,700m (5,577ft).

The first strategic investment scheduled at Riviera Airport is the upgrade of navigational aids for landing and take-off operations. The upgrade will provide better support for long-haul private flights.

Mohamad Hadid, chairman of Hadid, said, “This is a unique venture we are very excited to be part of. Riviera Airport has significant potential to become the foremost general aviation airport in the region.

“Hadid and Riviera Airport share the vision of grand infrastructural development that will serve the region’s growing demand for general aviation and it will ultimately benefit the local economy and community.”

Clemens Toussaint, chairman of Riviera Airport, added, “We are delighted to develop this beautiful airport on the Italian coastline together with our new partner from Dubai. Hadid, a leader in private aviation services, will provide all future guest services at the highest professional level in the industry and will be the cornerstone to make the development of Riviera Airport a success.”
