FAA to invest US$770m in US airport infrastructure grants

General aviation airports across the US are set to get a boost following the FAA's announcement that it is to award US$770.8m in airport infrastructure grants. The new funding is part of the US$3.18bn Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding for airports in the country.

This third increment of funding provides 569 grants to 522 airports that will fund 949 infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles, and snow removal equipment.

The business airports set to receive funding include:
• Augusta Regional at Bush Field, Georgia, USA, which will get US$14.7m to fund the repair of the air carrier and general aviation apron;
• White Mountain Airport in New Hampshire, which will receive US$4.7m to repair Runway 15/33 lighting, the apron where the aircraft park, and the taxiway; and
• Corvallis Municipal Airport, which is set to receive US$7.6m to reconstruct portions of Runway 09/27 and Taxiway A and to repair the lighting for the runway and taxiway 09/27 and Taxiways A and B.
