Gulfstream’s latest business jet, the G700 has received FAA Type Certification in the USA.
The G700’s FAA certification confirmed two new performance improvements for the long range jet, a take-off distance of 5,995ft (1,827m) and a landing distance of 3,150ft (960m), both shorter than originally specified.
Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream said, “We have completed the most rigorous certification program in our company’s history with the G700. I would like to thank our world-class team of flight test, certification and engineering professionals, along with the many others at Gulfstream who have contributed to this accomplishment. The G700 brings a new level of performance and cabin comfort to business aviation and is doing so while meeting the highest certification standards our industry has ever seen.”
During flight testing last September, the G700’s maximum operating speed was increased from 710mph (1,140km/h) to 717mph (1,155km/h) making it the fastest Gulfstream business jet. The aircraft’s maximum range was also increased to 8,920 miles (14,353km).
The G700 cabin altitude, already the lowest in business aviation, was further reduced to 2,840 ft (866m) while flying at 41,000ft (12,497m). The aircraft’s cabin also features whisper-quiet noise levels, 20 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows and 100% never recirculated air.
“I would also like to extend my thanks to the FAA G700 certification team for their support,” added Burns. “On behalf of Gulfstream’s more than 20,000 employees worldwide, I am proud and excited to begin our G700 customer deliveries.”
The G700 made its maiden flight in February 2020. The test program included five flight-test aircraft and a structural test article that has completed load testing.
