London Biggin Hill Airport has reported a significant increase in aircraft movements following the introduction of its extended operating hours in May.
The latest Business Aviation INSIGHT report from WingX Advance shows that the airport has seen a 21% increase in business aviation movements year on year since the new operating hours came into effect.
The new extended hours – of 6.30am to 11.00pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00am to 10.00pm at weekends and public holidays – has been especially popular with North American and Middle East-based customers.
Robert Walters, business development director, London Biggin Hill, said, “Introducing extended operating hours has been the right decision for our airport and shows our commitment to offering our customers unrivalled flexibility and service.
“The continued growth of Biggin Hill alongside our low operating costs, no slot restrictions and its proximity to central London, coupled with the recent arrival of the steels for a new 60,000ft² hangar, further supports the trend that the airport is establishing itself as the preferred business aviation gateway for London and the City.”
