Private Jet Card Comparisons has revealed the 50 top private jet airports in the USA in 2017 in terms of numbers of departures, with Teterboro Airport coming out on top. The airport saw a 4.2% increase in departures in 2017 compared with 2016, with a total of 74,277 take-offs last year.
Second busiest was Westchester Country Airport with 35,189 departures, while Dallas Love Field came third with 34,973 departures. California boasted seven airports in the top 50 including Van Nuys, Los Angeles International (LAX), Orange County, San Jose, Oakland, Burbank and San Francisco International.
Seven airports saw double-digit growth in private jet travel, led by Pittsburgh which saw traffic jump 25.3%, while LAX witnessed a 24.3% bump. Boca Raton (23.8%), Dulles (14.3%), Boston Logan (13.1%), Miami International (12.7%) and Fort Lauderdale International (11.7%) all saw significant gains. Wichita and Charlotte both saw the biggest drops with departures down 4%.
The data, provided by TRAQPak, revealed there were 3,062,634 total departures for flights tracked in the USA in 2017, and the top 50 airports accounted for 908,548 departures, just under 30% of all take-offs.
