Facility expansions and enhancements are well underway or have been completed in recent months at several of Atlantic Aviation’s more than 100 locations.
All are part of a major improvement initiative network-wide and include both new construction as well as upgrades to existing facilities.
Two examples of this recent work are Atlantic Aviation at Laurence G. Hanscom Field (BED) in Boston/Bedford, Massachusetts and at Scottsdale Airport (SDL) in Scottsdale, Arizona.
At BED, construction is underway on an expansion project that broke ground in June of 2022. The project includes three acres of new ramp space, three 20,000 square foot hangars with 28-foot doors, 12,000 square feet of office and shop space, improvements to the company’s existing terminal and other hangar facilities, the addition of a third 20,000 gallon Jet A tank, and enhanced security and monitoring capabilities for the entire facility. BED is located just 20 miles northwest of Boston and is the largest general aviation airport in the region. Atlantic BED supports local and international businesses, medical facilities, and educational hubs in and around Boston’s 128 Loop. Completion of construction is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023.
At Atlantic Aviation Scottsdale (SDL), work is complete on an expansive hangar and office building complex that has significantly increased the company’s already large value-creating infrastructure at one of the country’s busiest GA airports. This recent expansion includes a 56,000 square foot hangar and two 3,000 square foot office buildings – all of which are now fully occupied – along with adjacent covered parking. Combined with this latest expansion, Atlantic Aviation operates on some 8.3 acres of ramp space at SDL and 143,000 square feet of hangar space, making Atlantic the largest FBO on the airport. In addition, plans are now being made for a new executive terminal and additional hangar space at SDL in the years to come.
In keeping with the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability for business aviation, the new hangars at Atlantic Aviation Boston/Bedford will be LEED Silver Certified, and the new facilities in both Bedford and Scottsdale incorporate a number of other sustainability initiatives, including electric and hybrid ramp and crew vehicles, customer parking with EV charging stations, and the availability of Sustainable Aviation Fuel through Atlantic’s SAF marketplace.
