Air charter specialist Luxaviation UK has experienced a hike in flights to Eastern Europe for the winter season, with hubs such as Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport in Slovenia, Sofia Airport in Bulgaria, and Skopje Airport in Macedonia all proving popular.
Geneva and Lyon remain the most popular destination for the season due to their access to the Alps for skiing, while its famous Christmas markets draw visitors to Frankfurt.
George Galanopoulos, managing director, Luxaviation UK, said, “Eastern Europe is definitely on the rise as a winter destination for our customers. As well as quicker access to the quieter slopes, where there is always good snow cover, customers enjoy the historical village-style locations, traditional drink and cuisine and really stunning scenery.
“In the past few weeks, we have provided more quotes than ever before to the region. Ljubljana provides access to the Pohorje Mountains, a favorite for night skiing. Sofia is only a short drive from the popular Bansko resort in the Pirin Mountains, and Skopje is just 90 minutes from Popova Sapka, where excellent snow cover is virtually guaranteed between January and March.”
Luxaviation UK’s top ten winter destinations for this season are:
1. Geneva, Switzerland
2. Lyon, France
3. Frankfurt, Germany
4. Oslo, Norway
5. Sofia, Bulgaria
