Since a temporary flight restriction (TFR) has been issued for Bedminster, New Jersey, from August 4-20 while US President Trump is on vacation, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has called upon the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop additional routes.
The TFR has prohibited operations at Somerset Airport and Solberg-Hunterdon Airport, and due to their close proximity, some approaches and/or departures for Central Jersey Regional and Hackettstown are also unavailable during this period.
The ban also closes the west gates out of Newark Liberty International Airport and the Newark satellites, which include Teterboro and Morristown airports.
Business aviation operators can apply to have their routes approved by the FAA ATC Command Center during the TFR, with those approved being released daily in flight advisories. Trump’s vacations have also previously impacted airports in Florida.
