Los Angeles-area civic leaders are set to meet business aviation leaders to mark a milestone in the development and adoption of Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuels (SAJF) as part of NBAA’s Business Jets Fuel Green: A Step Toward Sustainability program.
The group, who will meet on January 17, will host an informative, day-long series of events to highlight the SAJF initiative and resources, and demonstrate the fuels’ viability.
The event will mark the official launch of SAJF in use, with demonstration flights showing SAJF in action, making Van Nuys Airport (VNY) the first general aviation airport in the US to offer SAJF on a trial basis and providing a model for offering the fuels at other airports.
The SAJF initiative, including the demonstration day, reflect the industry’s long-standing commitment to emissions reductions, including carbon neutrality from 2020.
The event at Van Nuys Airport will include a workshop, lunch, live in-flight demonstrations and a media event. Attendees will include Ed Bolen, president and CEO at NBAA; Deborah Flint, CEO at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA); and an abundance of participants from the fuel sector.
