Sheltair Aviation has announced the recent ground-breaking for a new narrow-body size hangar at its Tampa International Airport (TPA) FBO.
Scheduled for completion at the end of 2025, the new hangar under construction is designed to offer 50,880 square feet of hangar space and 8,344 square feet of office/shop space, perfect for accommodating a variety of aircraft, including Boeing Business Jets and similar-sized planes.
A standout feature of the new hangar is its advanced tail door, which is explicitly designed to accommodate larger aircraft like the BBJ.
“At Sheltair, we constantly strive to enhance our facilities and services to better serve our customers,” said Lisa Holland, Sheltair’s president and chief executive officer. “This new hangar at TPA represents our ongoing commitment to excellence and our confidence in the growth of Tampa’s aviation sector. We look forward to welcoming our tenants and guests to this exceptional new facility in 2025.”
Along with expansive hangar space, the complex will feature approximately 8,344 square feet of office space and shop space. These office areas are designed to offer premium amenities to business aviation customers currently operating out of, or looking to move to, TPA.
In addition to hangar and office spaces, the development will include an apron area of approximately 50,000 square feet, ensuring ample space for aircraft maneuvering, refueling and staging.
The hangar and apron area themselves boast impressive dimensions, but the entirety of the complex will stand at a monumental total of approximately 110,000 square feet.
This expansion will bring Sheltair’s total hangar count to eleven at TPA, further solidifying its position as a key player in the Southeast and the TPA market.
“Tampa International Airport has seen sustained growth in general aviation over the past few years, and our partners at Sheltair have been working hard to keep up with the demand for private aircraft services,” Airport CEO Joe Lopano said. “Sheltair’s vision and smart planning underscores its continued commitment to creating a premier experience at its FBO complex for visitors, businesses and customers.”
Sheltair’s latest development at TPA is a testament to the company’s ongoing investment into the future of aviation, ensuring its facilities continue to meet the highest standards and exceed expectations in the growing world of business aviation.
